Dausi quashes Kamlepo’s abduction in Parliament

Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi has quashed the claims by Rumphi East Member of Parliament Kamlepo Kalua who is also opposition People’s Party (PP) third Vice President for the north that he was abducted for one week, saying he is seeking political sympathy.

Kalua went missing last week and was found on Sunday at Kwacha Roundabout in the commercial capital Blantyre while tied both hands and legs with blue ropes.

The development attracted public attention with the Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya requesting the Minister of Information Nicholas Dausi to furnish his officer details on the matter.

Addressing the house, Dausi quashed the abduction claims, saying allegations are incorrect, untrue, wrong, falacious, unsound, unfounded, deceptive that are aimed at creating a negative spat on the part of Government.

“We call on the public to ignore with contempt the pictures showing Hon. Kalua tied in hands and legs on the morning of Sunday, 7th May 2017 as a deceitful proof of his alleged devious abduction. Very unfortunate.

“These are a petty, trivial, incosequential and miserable attempts to create a pretext that he is being victimised for his political views and criticism of Government,” said Dausi.

Standing on point of order, Leader of PP in the house Uladi Mussa trashed the Dausi’s statement, saying he is not a responsible man to present details on Kalua’s abduction.

Mussa proposed to the Speaker that Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Grace Obama Chiumia is the one responsible.
