Police officer filmed demeaning national anthem to be disciplined (watch video)

The Malawi Police Service (MPS) has said it will discipline a police officer filmed demeaning the country’s national anthem while drunk.

Last week a 10 seconds video of a police officer clad in police fatigues was captured singing and mimicking singing Malawi’s national anthem in a mockery.

The video went viral on the social media attracting debate with others questioning the morality of the Malawi Police Service.

But speaking in an interview with the press National Police spokesperson James Kadadzela the police officer has been identified and he will be disciplined for his action.

“We have identified the police officer and disciplinary action is going to be taken against him.

“It is unacceptable for a police officer to get drunk to the extent where he cannot be capable of controlling himself,” he said.
