A 39-year-old man identified as Robert Phiri has found himself a way to police custody after defiling a 14-year-old girl in Dwangwa, police have confirmed.
According to Sub-Inspector Laban Makalani, Phiri committed the offence on Monday at Nyamvuu inside Dwangwa Illovo Sugar Estate.
The standard 2 pupil had on that day left home to Nyamvuu primary school in the early hours.
“The suspect who stays near the school used his tricks to coax the young girl into his house by telling her to watch a film on his cellphone not knowing he had bad intentions, Makalani said.
The case came into limelight after one teacher who spotted the girl going into the suspect`s house revealed.
The girl`s mother got to know of the shocking news and she reported the matter to police where she was referred to Nkhunga health care.
Medical report revealed that the girl was defiled.
Phiri will soon appear in court to answer defilement charges contrary to section 138 of the penal code.
