Area 18 residents protest for drinking contaminated water

Lilongwe residents particularly those from Area 18 A this morning marched to Lilongwe City Council and presented a petition demanding clean water in the area.

This follows reports of a burst sewer pipe which contaminated water pipes last week.

The petition is also demanding compensation for those who were affected.

According to council officials who received the petition, a response will be given by the end of the day.

Two weeks ago, Lilongwe Water Board admitted to have offered water mixed with sewage and apologized to residents especially those from Area 18 A for the incident.
