Govt denies blocking Melema, Chishimba from attending Kunkuyu’s conference

Minister of Information and Communications Technology Nicholas Dausi has trashed the letter circulating on the social media indicating that government has declared South Africa’s firebrand politician Julius Malema and a Zambian opposition leader Saviour Chishimba as prohibited immigrants.

Malema, together with Chishimba, were set to take part at Transformation Alliance (TA) conference organised by former minister Moses Kunkuyu where they would have been speakers as the movement is set to turn into a political party.

On Thursday, the social media was awashed the letter declaring the two as “prohibited immigrants” in Malawi.

When asked for comment, Dausi trashed the letter saying government has not blocked the two.

“The claims are false and baseless, the government of Malawi has nothing against Zambian opposition leader, Chishimba.

“The opposition should stop making unnecessary political speculations. Chishimba cancelled the trip because of reasons best known to him,” said Dausi.

On her part, Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security Grace Obama Chiumia has denied authoring the letter.
