Kanengo police publicist Salome Zgambo has confirmed the death of a 40-year-old man who died following severe injuries sustained after being beaten at a wedding party.
The victim has been identified as Thokozani Katuma who hailed from Jekete village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpama in Chiradzulu district.
The father of the victim, Geofrey Katuma told the police that last Friday night, the deceased attended a wedding eve party celebrations in area 25 c where he was also staying alone.
“Whilst there, a misunderstanding erupted between him and other people at the party and later a fight broke,” said Katuma.
The following Saturday morning, the deceased was found unconscious a place near his house.
A post-Morten done at Kamuzu Central Hospital showed that his death was due to serious head injuries and excessive loss of blood.
Police in Lilongwe are still investigating the case in a bid to bring the suspects to book.
