One Person Dead Following a Road Accident at Linthipe 2

One life has been lost as a vehicle which was trying to overtake a truck swerved and landed into a river yesterday at Linthipe 2 Bridge.

The name of the deceased person has not yet been given out by the police.

Police say the accident happened at around 17:30hrs as the vehicle with registration number DA 9437, driven by a 46-year-old Patrick Mtingwi was coming from the direction of Dedza to Lilongwe along the M1 road.

Upon arrival at Linthipe 2, the driver wanted to overtake a truck such that he lost control while in the process and his vehicle swerved to the far nearside where it overturned several times and landed into a river.

The vehicle had six passengers on board and three escaped with minor injuries while other three sustained serious injuries.
