Gule in Custody for Wounding Friend Over Gule Wamkulu Dancing Cloth

Chikwawa police public relations officer Constable Foster Benjamin has confirmed the arrest of a 17-year-old man for wounding his friend over Gule Wamkulu cloth.

Benjamin identified the suspect as Innocent Tayi who wounded a 22-year-old Coles Chirwa.

Reports say on that day, the suspect went to their Gule Wamkulu Camp which is in Phingo village in the area of Traditional Authority Maseya in Chikwawa.

While there, he asked for Gule Wamkulu cloth from the victim but he was not granted a chance to have the cloth. Following that, a fight broke which resulted into the suspect wounding his fellow Gule Wamkulu dancer.

Later surrounding villagers apprehended the suspect and handed him over to Chikwawa police station where he is currently waiting to answer the charges of unlawfully wounding.

He hails from Phingo village in the area of Traditional authority Maseya in Chikwawa.
