Kamlepo contradicts Uladi on PP, DPP alliance: ‘We are not part of any alliance’

Rumphi East Member of Parliament Kamlepo Kalua who is also opposition People’s Party (PP) third Vice President in the north has distanced the Party from claims by Uladi Mussa that it is in alliance with the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).

Last week the party joined hands with the ruling DPP in the National Assembly to reject electoral reforms bill including the 50+1 system of electing the President.

The development added salt to earlier speculations that the party has agreed to an alliance with DPP on conditions and one of it being not to arrest the founder of the Party Dr. Joyce Banda.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Mussa confirmed that the party is really in working relation with the ruling DPP.

But Kamlepo trashed Mussa’s remarks, saying the party is not in any alliance.

“As the president of PP in the Northern Region, We are not part of any alliance with DPP as reported by Nyasa times’ article quoting Hon Uladi Mussa,” wrote Kamlepo on his official facebook page seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

PP seems to be in divisions as others are supporting the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) while other MPs are dining with the ruling DPP.

This was seen in Parliament and the development led to the resignation PP chief whip Ralph Jooma citing personal reasons.
