Immigration officers transferred at Chileka Airport for allowing JB to hold a press briefing

Information sourced by faceofmalawi indicates that some immigration officers are on force transfer at Chileka International Airport (CIA) for allowing former President Dr. Joyce Banda to hold media briefing in the VVIP lounge upon arrival.

Banda arrived in the country from self-imposed exile on April 28, 2018 and upon land she held a press briefing where she highlighted a number of issues including the warrant of arrest obtained by the Malawi Police Service regarding her involvement in the cashgate scandal.

The briefing collided with the country’s Vice President Saulos Chilima’s landing at the airport who had official duties in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Just a week after the incident, reports reaching FOM’s reporter indicate that officers have been transferred to some other districts.

According to inside source, the transfer is linked to the press briefing Banda held at the Airport.

Immigration Spokesperson Joseph Chauwa confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying the transfers are normal.
