Suspected thief stoned to death in Mangochi

An infuriated mob stoned to death a man at Ntanje Village in Chimwala, Mangochi while another escaped when the two were spotted pushing a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen.

Mangochi Police Station spokesperson Rodrick Maida said Frank Banda and his colleague were spotted pushing the motorcycle through uncharted road.

Maida said the two abandoned the motorcycle when they saw community members and police following them.

Maida further said the duo started stoning the people who retaliated, injuring Banda in the head.

He said a postmortem established that he died of head injuries.
