The High court in Zomba has adjourned Chanthunya’s case in which Misozi Chanthunya is being accused of killing his girlfriend Linda Gasa, to 3:30pm today.
The state raised two preliminary reasons for the adjournment, including defence legal counsel Fostino Mayere’s alleged conflict of interest. Dr. Steven Kayuni, lead state prosecutor, says Mayere is not the right person to represent Chanthunya.
Judge Redson Kapindu says the preliminary issues can not be dealt with orally, as they may lead to matters that need documentation as proof.
Kapindu says defence lawyer Mayere fears he may be ambushed and embarrassed.
