Three police officers involved in road accident in Mponela

Three police officers have sustained serious injuries after a vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Tembo village in Mponela, Dowa.

Police in Dowa have confirmed of the accident and identified the victims as Prince Gondwe, Mercy Mvula and Zelleys Mtalimanja.

According to police, the accident happened in the early hours of Monday.

“Brief facts are that on the date, time mentioned above the driver was driving from Mponela direction heading Kasungu along Lilongwe/Kasungu M1 road with other three police officers on board who were on way to mount a snap road block at Mpapa.

“Upon arrival at Tembo village the front tyre got burst and the driver lost control of a vehicle and and went to extreme offside where it overturned,” reads in part the report.

Meanwhile the law enforcers are receiving treatment at Dowa District Hospital.
