A 35-year-old man in Karonga has been arrested for being found with explosives, police confirmed.
Karonga police deputy spokesperson George Mlewa confirmed of the news and identified the suspect as Zeru Thopola.
“The suspect introduced himself as a bluster from Ekwendeni PLEM Quarry Company and was travelling to Chitipa to do his private blusting without an authority from company personnel, “said the deputy PRO.
Mlewa further said among the explosives include 85 lodes of Mugnum Buster, a 250 meter Power Code as well as a 25kg fertilizer.
Thopola is expected to appear in court soon and answer the charge of theft by servant.
He hails from Mwaphoka village in the area of traditional authority Kachulu in Rumphi.
