Two UTM members released on bail

Second Grade Magistrate’s Court in Mulanje on Monday released on bail two members of the United Transformation Movement (UTM) and Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu.

Two were arrested over the weekend for allegedly snatching National Identity Cards from some people in Mulanje district.

The two, Joseph Machokola who is coordinator of Odya Zake Alibe Mlandu and UTM member Michael Mandala were charged with conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

Mulanje police spokesperson Sgt. Gresham Ngwira confirmed of the development in an interview with Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS).

According to Ngwira, the two were copying numbers on the IDs.

The two pleaded not guilty to the charge.

They applied for bail which Second Grade Magistrate Mphalulo Fatchi did not object and he granted them bail with a bond of K10, 000 each.

The case has since been adjourned to October 1, 2018.
