Chakwera wins MCP Primaries in Lilongwe North West

Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has won the party primary election for Lilongwe North West Constituency.
The primaries took place on Thursday in the Constituency.

Chakwera got 1,187 votes, beating Bryson Majoni who got 55 votes.

The development means Chakwera who also the Presidential candidate for MCP will represent the party in the constituency in the forthcoming 2019 polls.

Elsewhere, Veteran politician Divelias Zaipa lost the primary election in Mchinji to political new comer Agnes Nkusa Nkhoma.

MCP is conducting primaries across the country to identify candidates to represent the party in the forthcoming polls.
