Man Arrested for Robbing off Prostitute’ Phone

One suspect has been arrested while his colleague is on the run after robbing off a cellphone belonging to a sex worker at a Mnjanja Mkamabo bar in Ntchisi district.

According to the district’s police station publicist, Gladson M’bumpha, the suspect who was nabbed is identified as Austin Kaimvi while his friend who is at large as Allan Sengani.

M’bumpha said the incident occurred on the night of  Tuesday, 11 September at Mnjanja Mkamabo bar which is around Ntchisi trading centre.

“Kaimvi, aged 20 robbed off an Itel cellphone worth K35,000 from the sex worker, Velia Saidi when she went out of the bar to answer a call of nature,” said the police publicist.

Fortunate enough, some well-wishers apprehended Kaimvi but his friend, Sengani managed to escape from the bar with the device.

Meanwhile, an investigation is on going to arrest Sengani.

According to M’bumpha, Kaimvi will soon appear in court to answer charges of robbery with violence.

Kaimvi hails from Chimbwanda village in the area of Traditional Authority Malenga in Ntchisi.
