POLICE WOMEN DONATE ITEMS  TO NEEDY FEMALE STUDENTS IN MANGOCHI

In a bid to promote girl child education , Mangochi Police women network has donated school items worthy K295,000.00  to 10  less privileged girls.

The function took place on Wednesday morning October 24, 2018 at Mangochi Town hall.

The form one students are from Tanyamuka, Thumu, Changali, Chowe, Masuku, Malombe, Nasenga, St. Joseph, Mtuwa and Mpondasi Community Day Secondary schools.

Each of the student received school fees, uniform, school shoes, pair of socks, a unit of college exercise books, 6 pens,Mathematical instruments and 10 tablets of washing soap.

In addition ,the female law enforcers has paid a sum of K19,000.00 examination fee for Naomi Charles a form 4 student at Thumu CDSS.

The guest honour Officer in charge for the station Mr. G. Chikhungu  Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police commended the female law enforcers for the good gesture and encouraged the students to work hard in their studies.

Speaking to the gathering, the chairperson for the network lnspector Norah Chimwala narrated that during their visits in 25 different schools in the last academic year, the network noticed that lack of necessities is one of the contributing factors to increased drop outs hence the donation in order to uplift their welfare in schools.

“On behalf of Mangochi Police Women Network l would like to thank our officer incharge Mr George Chikhungu and everyone who supported this initiative.

I know that this donation is not enough and am urging others to follow suit in fighting against child marriages and promote girl child education here in Mangochi” said Chimwala.

In her few remarks Agnes Justin of Tanyamuka CDSS thanked the female law enforcers for the donation.

“On behalf of my fellow beneficiaries l don’t know how to thank you, this is something l did not expect especially from Police personnel. We promise to work hard in order to achieve our goals, may God reward you” said Agnes .

Mangochi Police women network has been active in both charity and work related tasks that includes visits and donations, sensitization awareness and school outreach programs on child marriages and teenage pregnancies.
