Some angry chiefs have demanded the closure of Chisepo Police Unit over reports that a police officer defiled a teenage girl at the unit.
The girl was arrested following a fight she had at school with another girl. But at night while she was in her cell, a man alleged to be a police officer who was at the time wearing a face mask entered her cell after opening with keys and defiled her.
Tests at Chisepo Health Centre confirmed that the girl was defiled.
However, police officers at the unit allege that the girl was defiled by a male suspect who was arrested for theft and escaped the same night.
The suspect was later arrested. He accepted other charges but denied defiling a girl.
But locals say it is a cover up attempt to protect their fellow officer.
