‘No runningmate squabbles in UTM’-Chidanti Malunga

United Transformation Movement (UTM) has denied rumours hovering on the social media that some top officials are fighting for the running mate seat ahead of its national elective conference, saying the rumours are untrue.

Sources within the movement have indicates that the latest finger pointing ensued on 10th October when members held a meeting in Blantyre where Dr. Michael Usi and Mr. Newton Kambala expressed interest to take up the position.

It is reported that UTM members rejected Dr. Usi and Kambala’s bids for the post, describing them as undeserving.

But speaking in an interview with the press, UTM spokesperson Dr. Joseph Chidanti Malunga has dismissed the matter, saying all is well with the movement.

“Everything is well; anybody can say anything about UTM. People think that the only way to disturb UTM is to spread stories which are not true. There is nothing like that. If we want to communicate anything to members of the general public, that would come from our secretariat. It is not true,” said Malunga.

Usi has also denied the claims.

UTM is scheduled to hold its national convention next month.
