UTM Member George Saonda released by Police

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that Police in Zomba have released United Transformation Movement (UTM) Party member George Saonda unconditionally.

Saonda was arrested on Thursday at Thondwe after being found with a rifle and live ammunitions without proper documents.

According to information at hand, Saonda left the papers of the said rifle at his house in the capital Lilongwe and his wife today brought the papers to police hence his release.

Eastern Region Police Spokesperson Joseph Sauka confirmed of his release in an interview with the press.

A month ago, the police also arrested Saonda on allegations that he duped an Indian national who wanted to acquire Malawians passport.
