Three people have been left seriously injured after being attacked by a hyena in Ntcheu district.
Police in the district confirmed the three were attacked on Sunday.
According to Ntcheu Police Station Spokesperson Hastings Chigalu, one of the victims, a 33 year old man from Kasisi 1 village, Sub Traditional Authority Tsikulamowa was attacked in his maize field while planting the crop.
â€śThe other two, boys aged 11 and 9 years from Matale 1, Traditional Authority Phambala were later attacked within the community by the same wild animal after it had escaped from the first scene,â€ť Chigalu said.
He added that the three are in critical condition due to injuries sustained from the attack.
“The 11 year old, Willesi Hussein, has [had] both palms maimed and is currently admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital [in Blantyre] receiving medical treatment.
â€śThe other two are admitted at Balaka District Hospital as they were also left seriously injured,â€ť he added.
He said law enforcers in the district managed to kill the wild beast after rushing to the scene.
