Lunguzi loses MCP Primaries in Dedza East

Incumbent Member of Parliament for Dedza East Constituency has narrowly lost the primary elections to Patrick Bandwe who will now represent Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the forthcoming 2019 polls in the constituency.

The primaries were conducted on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Makhama Primary School in the constituency.

Lunguzi got 815 votes while Bandawe got 821 votes, according to presiding official Peter Chalera who eventually declared Bandawe a winner.

The results have attracted mixed reactions on social media with many accusing the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) top officials of having hidden agendas.

Meanwhile Lunguzi is yet to comment on the outcome of the primaries.
