After inspecting and cleaning voters register, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has announced increased figures from 6 856 295 to 6 859 375 representing a 3 080 rise of the 2019 Tripartite Elections eligible voters.
New figures were from centres in Dedza that did not reflect any data, while Mgawi 1 centre did not upload fully during the registration exercise.
The commission also removed 13 244 multiple registrants.
Currently, MEC is conducting voters verification exercise in eight Central Region districts namely; Dowa, Dedza, Salima, Nkhotakota, Mchinji, Ntchisi, Ntcheu and Kasungu.
