Anne Matumbi denies losing DPP primaries

Well-known dancehall artist Anne Matumbi, popularly known as Nyakwawa has denied rumours hovering on the social media of him losing primary elections conducted by the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Lilongwe City South West Constituency.

On Thursday, the social media was awash with reports that Matumbi has lost miserably to a lady by the name of Scholastic Chidyaonga.

But writing on his official facebook page, Matumbi quashed the claims, saying he pulled out of the primaries.

“I want to clarify on the news going around that l lost the Dpp primary elections, I DID NOT PARTICIPATE in the primaries due to issues within the party.

“I would like to thank people from the constituency for your endless Love kwa mwana wanu mmudzi MATUMBI,” wrote Matumbi.

DPP primaries have been marred by various irregularities and in some parts the results of the primaries are yet to be released.
