War in the church: Bishop Malasa’s fate meeting scheduled for today shifted to February 6

Date:

The make or break meeting that was supposed to take place in Zomba today to resolve the differences between under fire Anglican Bishop of Diocese of Upper Shire Brighton Vita Malasa, and church members, has been shifted by Anglican Church provincial team responsible for Southern Africa.

Provincial Secretary for Central Africa Bishop William Mchombo was scheduled to lead the provincial team into hearing out the concerns by the local people, who are pressing for Malasa’s resignation, at a meeting which was to take place at St George Anglican Parish complex.

However, Mchombo has written the Malawi team asking them to reschedule the meeting to 6th February, 2019.

By 9 am today, some church members had already converged at the Complex, wearing T-shirts carrying various messages, demanding the immediate removal or resignation of Malasa.

Meanwhile the concerned church members are locked in a meeting to discuss the way forward following postponement of the meeting.
