Three senior United Transformation Movement (UTM) officials in the Eastern Region were on Sunday assaulted in Mangochi by suspected youth cadets for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
The development comes barely days after another UTM National Director of Youth Bon Kalindo was also assaulted by DPP thugs in Mulanje.
Police officials and UTM Spokesperson Dr. Joseph Chidanti Malunga confirmed of the incident on Sunday during an interview with the press.
According to information at hand, the DPP cadets who were 12 in total parked their vehicle near Muluzi Bridge in Mangochi.
The thugs assaulted a woman only identified as Mai Hussen by undressing a UTM cloth she was putting on.
The cadets also attacked UTM Governor for Eastern Region and his colleague only identified as Waya.The cadets hit Waya with a Carlsberg bottle.
Effort to talk to DPP spokesperson Nicholas Dausi on the matter proved futile.
Meanwhile commenters have asked President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to discipline his unruly cadets.
