Teacher Found Dead after he Took Student’s Phone During Classes, 3 Students Arrested

A teacher who confiscated a mobile phone from a student whom he caught using the device while he was teaching has been found dead, leading to arrest of three suspected students.

The incident has reportedly occurred in Nakuru, Kenya.

Neighbours mill at the homestead of Mr Peter Omare, a Physics teacher at Hopewell Secondary school who was murdered on Thursday night in Barut area in Nakuru West.

Three students were on Friday morning arrested in Nakuru County in connection to the murder of a teacher.

The three, two of whom are students at Hopewell High School and another of a yet to be identified school, reportedly attacked Mr Peter Omare on Thursday night.

Mr Samson Kosgey, the area village elder, said the deceased, the boarding master at Hopewell High School, was allegedly hacked to death by students.

“We heard wails from the school compound and when we rushed there we found the body of the teacher lying in a pool of blood,” said Mr Kosgey told local reporters.

It is then that they decided to call the area chief Mr David Kering who arrived with police officers and took the body to Nakuru Hospital morgue.

Mr Kering confirmed that the three had been arrested and are being held in police cell.

‘We don’t know what the attackers used to hit the teacher with on the head that led to his death but police are pursuing the matter,” he said.

The chief said that police will soon arraign the suspects in court once investigations are complete.

Reports indicate that the teacher had on Thursday afternoon found two students using a mobile phone in school and took it away.
