Police fires teargas at angry mob baying for the blood of murder suspect in Nsanje

There was chaos in Nsanje on Friday after angry community members descended on Nsanje Police Station, demanding the release of a suspect the law enforcers were holding so that they should deal with him.

According to a citizen journalist on the ground, Israel Masiyano, the police arrested the suspect, who is a habitual offender, a few days ago after he committed a crime.

Things took a drastic turn earlier today when communities thronged the station, baying for the blood of the suspect.

They said they have lost trust in how police officers in the district are handling criminal cases.

The police had to use teargas to disperse the angry crowd.

There was no immediate comment from the law enforcers on the matter
