Woman in Cooler over Stepson’s Murder

A 36 year old Zambian woman in Chingola area has been arrested for allegedly murdering her 17 year old stepson.

Mercy Mweemba, 36, was picked up by police for the murder of her step son after the lad was alleged to have stolen a digital camera.

Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga said the suspect beat up the deceased who has been identified as Hastings Hakaya using a metal bar.

Katanga said the deceased sustained a bruised forehead, deep cut on the head and swollen legs.

She said the suspect is currently is in police custody while the body of the deceased is in the hospital Mortuary awaiting post mortem.
