Zomba Diocese says Father Muhosha not poisoned

Archdiocese of Zomba has refuted rumours claiming that Father Thomas Muhosha, one of the suspects in the killing of an albino man in Machinga that he is critically ill, saying the rumours are fake.

On Tuesday morning, the social media was awash with reports that unknown people have poisoned Father Muhocha and that he is critically ill.

“They finally got to Father Muhosha and have poisoned him. He is critically I’ll. We don’t know if he is going to make it to court on March 5,” reads in part the rumour.

The rumour, implicated Presidential security aide Norman Paulos Chisale as the main man behind the poisoning.

But Zomba Diocese through has refuted the claims, saying Father Muhosha is in good health.

“At the wake of today there are reports on Social Media pointing to the death of Fr. Thomas Muhosha who has been in Zomba Central Prison since May, 2018. Through our Prison Chaplaincy, the diocese wishes to confirm that Fr. Muhosha is not dead.

“The reports have been shaped for the agenda at variance with the facts on the ground. Let’s continue praying hard for the truth and justice to prevail as we preach boldly for a nation free of every chain of abuses to our beloved brothers and sisters with albinism,” reads in part the statement signed by Father Isaac Tsegula, Bishop’s Secretary.

Father Muhosha is expected to appear in the High Court in Zomba on March 5 to enter his defence after he was found with a case to answer over the abduction and killing of a 22 year old Mac Donald Masambuka in Machinga last year.
