Pupil commits Suicide in Rumphi


A standard four pupil of Chivungulu primary school committed suicide by hanging on March 20, 2019 at Chimphamba Village in the district.

He has been identified as Lyold Mkandawire, 10 – years from Chimphamba Village, Traditional Authority Mwahenga in the district.

It is reported that the deceased quarreled with his younger brother on March 19, 2019 and the matter was later solved by the father.

The deceased went to his bed as usual.

However his father found him hanging in his room the following morning.

The matter was reported to Rumphi Police who visited the scene.

Postmortem results conducted by Medical Officers from Mzokoto Health Centre showed that death was due to suffocation resulting from strangulation.
