Nazombe’s burial today in South Lunzu, Raphael Sitima shocked

Burial of one of the prolific poets in Country Mollen Nazombe will be held today at Lunzu Cemetery in the commercial capital Blantyre.

Nazombe who once worked as radio presenter for Matindi fm before joining Angaliba fm died on the wee hours of Thursday after long battle with skin cancer.

His death came as a surprise to many especially poetry lovers and some even took the issue to social media asking each other as to whether Nazombe was sick or not.

Speaking in an interview with faceofmalawi reporter, one of the poets in the country Raphael Sitima said the country has lost a well talented man.

“Nazombe was talented when it comes to poetry circle. He was a gifted young man, he knew how to do a poetry programme and how to organise poetry shows.

“He was a friend to everyone and was very friendly,” said Sitima.

Sitima said he will remember Nazombe as the man who uplifted him in the poetry circle.

“I will remember Mollen as someone who marketed me as a poet and make people to known me. Without mollen I could not be where I am today as a poet.He promoted me from the time he saw that am talented in 2011.He recorded my first poetry album in 2011.

“His death will definitely and greatly affect the poetry industry. Mollen was the one who made people in Malawi to start loving poetry, he was the one who started live poetry shows with thousands of audience there,” he added.

Sitima then urged poetry fans in the country to remember Nazombe as a pioneer of live poetry shows.

“All the poetry fans should remember Mollen as a great pioneer of live poetry shows,a talented poetry TV and radio presenter and a very humble young man.

“The poetry world and I as Raphael Sitima will miss Mollen Nazombe and there will be no one who will replace the gap he has left, the youngman was unique when it comes to poetry world,” he said.

Nazombe will be laid to rest today at Lunzu cemetery and the vigil is currently be held at Nthawira, Machinjiri area 3.
