T/A Njolomole Campaigns for DPP

Traditional Authority (T/A) Njolomole of Ntcheu has called on his subjects in the district to vote for the ruling Democratic Progressive (DPP) in the 21 May polls despite calls for chiefs not to be involved in partisan politics.

Njolomole was speaking at a campaign launch organized by DPP’s running mate Everton Chimulirenji at Chikapa ground in Ntcheu.

In his remarks Njolomole said voting for other parties will increase levels of poverty in the country.

He added that Mutharika has developed the area in all aspects and there is a need to give him a fresh mandate.

“The ruling party has transformed the district from areas of energy and health among other initiatives implemented in rural areas; hence, need to give them a fresh mandate in the forthcoming elections,” he said.

During the official campaign launch, Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Jane Ansah strongly warned chiefs not to be partisan and should therefore not to affiliate themselves with political parties and candidates.
