A five year old boy has drowned in Lunyina River on April 23, 2019 at Vyalema Village in Rumphi District.
The boy is Precious Simesho Tembo of Madyera village, Traditional Authority Chiwere in Dowa district.
The deceased went to the stated river along with friends for swimming on April 21, 2019.
Upon jumping into the waters, he failed to swim and never appeared again.
Later in the morning of April 23, 2019, his body was found floating in the said river.
The matter was reported to police who went to the scene along with medical officers from Rumphi District Hospital.
Postmortem results showed that death was due to suffocation.
Meanwhile, the police are warning parents and guardians against allowing children to streams without company of elders.
