Zambian police are investigating circumstances surrounding the setting ablaze and subsequent death of a 30-year-old man for stealing a side mirror of a vehicle.
Derrick Simwase who was alleged to have stolen a side mirror of a Mazda Vehicle registration number AJD 4997 a property of Richard Maluti aged 38 years of Muzovu Street in Kabwata died in the University Teaching Hospitals this morning in Lusaka.
The alleged theft occurred yesterday around 06:30 hours at the residence of Mr. Maluti who later drove to the Clan’s nite Club where the deceased is alleged to have been set ablaze using petrol.
Confirming the development to the media, Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said Police have since detained the owner of the said motor vehicle.
Mr. Hamoonga has warned members of the public to desist from taking the law in their own hands but rather let the due process of the law take its full course
