Former vice president of the country Dr. Saulos Chilima who is also the president for United Transformation Movement (UTM) has expressed shock with the outcome of the presidential polls.
Chilima who finished on the third place in the May 21 tripartite elections said the remarks soon after Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) announce the winner of May 21 polls.
In his remarks Chilima said he was surprised with the results at the same time congratulated president Peter Mutharika.
“We have heard the results but we are surprised. As of now let me congratulate the winner and wish him all the best,” said Chilima.
When asked if he is willing to work with his former boss, Chilima could not comment citing that it is the party matter.
“Whether we work with him or not, that is an issue I will need to consult the party,” Energetic Chilima said.
Mutharika, has been declared a winner of May 21 tripartite elections.
