Lunguzi, Mutharika Fight over Bwanje Dam Ownership

President Peter Mutharika has warned former Member of Parliament for Dedza East Juliana Lunguzi of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to stop misleading people on Bwanje Dam construction site in the district.

Lunguzi, during her political rallies she has been telling people in the area that the project has been constructed in the area because of her initiatives.

Lunguzi’s remarks did not please President Mutharika who warned the candidate to stop lying to the people.

Speaking on Tuesday at Mtakataka Trading center in Dedza close to where the construction site of the project is, Mutharika said the development is one of the greatest achievement his party has achieved.

“I want to tell people of Dedza that it is the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) led government under my leadership,” he said.

Mutharika continued saying construction of the Dam is aimed at transforming lives of Dedza people.

“Bwanje Dam has been constructed with an aim of transforming lives of people from poverty to prosperity,” he said.

The project which started in June 2016 is expected to end in June this year.
