‘Russia, Malawi Relationship Affectionate’ – Govt

Government through the Ministry of Information and Technology has said that its diplomatic relationship with Russia is affectionate despite strict visas’ on Russians.

The remarks were said by the minister responsible, Henry Mussa.

Mussa said the remarks soon after Russia donated items to flood victims in the country.

In his defense Mussa said that a number of countries have been strict on issuing visas on Russian nationals.

“The strict issuance of visas to Russians is standard all over the world,” he said.

He added; “These are risky countries whose citizens are scrutinized worldwide. We are not the only ones that have strict on visa issuance to Russians, Nigerians and Indians,”

Government became strict on visa issuance to Russians, Nigerians and Indians following high security risk classification by Malawi’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship services ahead of May 21 polls.
