“ZAMBIA WOMAN BURNT IN HORRIFIC ROAD ACCIDENT” Police Say

ZAMBIA – A 33 year-old woman of Luangwa identified as Maria Mahombe has sustained serious burns and is admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Zambia after a truck she was in collided head-on with another truck causing fire in Luangwa District.

The happened yesterday around 07:00 hours at Nchoncho area in Luangwa District and involved three trucks and a Juldan Marcopolo bus registration number ABP 8905 which was being driven by David Mazamba aged 46.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said the accident happened when the Hino truck tried to by-pass a Volvo truck property of Aliboo trading which had stopped right on the road at a curve, and in the process collided with the oncoming freight liner causing the fire.

Katongo said the Juldan bus which was also moving behind the Hino Truck hit into the Hino.

She said one female person who was a passenger on a Hino truck was rushed to Mumpanshya medical centre and has been referred to UTH while the driver of the Hino truck escaped with minor burns.
