ZAMBIA – Zambia Police arrest a Malawian national for defiling a 1 year old girl in Chipata.
A Malawian national residing in Chipata District of Esstern Province has allegedly defiled his one year five months old step daughter.
Meanwhile, a 32 year old man of Vubwi District of Eastern Province identified as Gravazio Sakala has been arrested by police for assaulting his ex-girlfriend in the private parts using a stick.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said in the defilement case, the 16 year old mother of the victimized baby reported the matter to police that the incident happened on Tuesday night in Chipata District.
It is alleged that the suspect identified as Masaiti Mwale of Mchini Compound, a Malawian of Matekwe village, Chief Kalolo of Lilongwe District returned home at night and found his wife and baby asleep and then got the baby and defiled it.
Katongo reported that the baby’s mother was awoken by cries of the victim.
And Katongo said the suspect is in custody.
She said this occurred on Saturday around 21:00 hours in Vubwi District.
“It is alleged that after the victim advised the former boyfriend to go to his wife, he sneaked into the suspect’s house the following night, got hold of her and inserted a stick in her private parts with the help of an unknown man,” Katongo reported.
She said the suspect was apprehended from Katete yesterday on a bus on his way to Lusaka and has since been detained in police custody.
