MHRC asks HRDC to suspend anti-Ansah demonstrations

The Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has asked for the suspension of the demonstrations organized by the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) citing continued violence during the demonstrations, among other reasons.

HRDC has been holding demonstrations calling for Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jane Ansah’s resignation.

Part of the statement released by MHRC asks the HRDC to “consider calling of the demonstrations for now and allow room for a reflection meeting with the Commission”.
