Chakwera visits Trapence, Sembereka at Lilongwe Police Station

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera this morning cheered Human Right Defenders Coalition (HRDC) Vice Chairperson Gift Trapence and Macdonald Sembereka at Lilongwe Police Station.

The two were arrested on Tuesday by the Fiscal Police on allegations that they misappropriated money for UNAIDS, according to National Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera.

But HRDC Chairperson Timothy Mtambo trashed the allegations, describing the arrest as political witch-hunt to silence the Civil Society Organisations.

Chakwera was accompanied by Director of Youth, Richard Chimwendo Banda.
