Kapito Calls Mutharika to take Reconciliatory Tone in Ending Post-Election Impasse

Executive Director of Consumers Association of Malawi (CAMA) John Kapito has said President Peter Mutharika’s provocative sentiments during rallies are simply fuel people’s anger not to relent from demonstrating which is affecting the trade environment in the country.

Kapito added his voice on the ongoing series of post-election demonstration during a news conference he held in Blantyre.

In his remarks Kapito said Mutharika is on ‘Fanning with the flame of anger in people who want to demonstrate.”

Kapito pleaded with Mutharika to take a reconciliatory tone to help in ending post-election impasse.

“Mutharika should rather be in forefront of preaching peace and not issuing threats,” Kapito said.

He further expressed worry with how the economic environment has been affected with the endless demonstrations that are taking place in country.
