MDF, MPS to hold joint media briefing over ongoing demonstrations

Malawi Defence Force (MDF) and the Malawi Police Service are scheduled to hold a joint press briefing in Blantyre to update Malawians on the state of security following the ongoing demonstrations by Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to for the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr Jane Ansah.

The media briefing according reports will be chaired by newly appointed MDF Commander General Vincent Nundwe and Inspector General of Police Lexten Kachama.

The protesters are continuing in Blantyre and protesters want to set ablaze Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) office in Sunnyside as revenge for an attack of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) office at Chichiri on Thursday.

MDF soldiers have blocked the protesters at t Hotel Victoria.
