Prophet Mbewe against Demonstrations, says ‘Malawi needs Peace’

Prophet David F. Mbewe of Living Word Evangelistic Church (LWEC) has condemned Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) and other stakeholders who are demonstrating in the country saying the demonstrations they are holding are perpetuating chaos in the country.

Mbewe said made the remarks on Sunday in the presence of Vice president Everton Chimulirenji who presided over the ceremony of presenting certificates to 204 members of his church at Shalom mount Valley in Machinga.

According to Mbewe violent demonstrations only show lack of love amongst Malawians.

Distancing himself from being a politician, Mbewe said burning police offices and other sort damages will not help Malawi.

“I am not a politician, but burning police offices, damaging roads causing political unrest will not help Malawians,” said Mbewe.

Mbewe continued; “I would like to advice politicians to realize that there is someone who is above us if we continue destroying our country, one day we will suffer.”

According to Mbewe, politicians can be liked by people if they demonstrate love for their followers without sowing seeds of division.

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM) have been justifying demonstrations that HRDC has been organizing calling for resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission Chairperson Jane Ansah to resign for failing to manage May 21, Tripartite elections.

In both occasions of the demonstrations, HRDC has been preaching peace turning out to be violent.
