Unknown man threatens to kill HRDC Deputy Chairperson Gift Trapence

Information reaching faceofmalawi indicates that unknown suspected Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) youth cadet has threatened to shoot to death Human Rights Defenders Coalition Vice Chairperson, Gift Trapence tonight.

Trapence has confirmed receiving a death threats through his mobile phone from a South African number.

“Am coming tonight I will shoot you down,” reads in part the text message sent to Gift Trapence seen by faceofmalawi reporter.

Speaking in an interview with Times radio Trapence said he remains unmoved as theirs is a cause of national concern hence no need for death threats.

HRDC led by Timothy Mtambo are today holding national wide protest to force the immediate resignation of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah for failing to manage the May 21 tripartite election.
