Driver in Cooler for Killing a Boy

Police in Mzimba have arrested a 29-year-old driver for hitting to death a 7-year-old boy due to reckless driving at Jenda Trading Centre on Tuesday, August 13.

Mzimba police station public relations officer, Sub-Inspector Peter Botha has identified the suspect as Donien Saiti of Lilindi village, T/A Nyambi in Mangochi and the deceased  has been identified as Kosamu Chafulumila.

According to Botha, on the day of the  incident Saiti was driving a Toyota Noah registration number NS3320 and was coming from Lilongwe with seven passengers on board heading Mzuzu along the M1 road.

“Upon arrival at Jenda Trading Centre, he hit Kosamu who was crossing the road from right to left. Following the impact, Kosamu died on spot where by the motor vehicle had its nearside head lamp damaged, “said Botha.

He added saying Saiti is to appear in court soon to answer charges of causing death by reckless driving.

Kosamu Chafulumila (deceased) hailed from Bunyanga village in T/A Makwangwala in Ntcheu district.
