Independent MP who defeated Atupele Muluzi in Machinga joins DPP

Independent Member of Parliament for Machinga North East Constituency Ajilu Kalitendere has joined the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), faceofmalawi can reveal.

Kalitendere emerged victorious in the May 21 polls after defeating United Democratic Front (UDF) President Atupele Muluzi.

Kalitendere then accused Muluzi of failing to develop the constituency.

“My main aim is to develop this constituency. As you can see, for the past years our former MP did nothing in terms of developing the constituency,” he said.

DPP Eastern Region Regional Governor Julius Pipe congratulated the MP for joining the blue camp.

Pipe said the party is open to everyone who wants to join it.
