Man arrested for defiling 2 year old girl

Police in Likoma are keeping in custody 26-year- old Frank Benjamin Banda for being suspected to have defiled a two and half year old girl on August 22,2019 at Jalo Trading Centre in the district.

Mother to the victim reported that her daughter was playing with friends near her business place.

According to the reporter, the victim left the business place soon after she finished playing without informing her mother who thought that she(victim) had gone home.

Later in the afternoon, she was informed by the victim’s friend that her daughter is in a certain building with the suspect.

She (mother) rushed to the said building and found the suspect wearing his trouser while her daughter lying down.

Matter was reported to Likoma police and officers visited the scene.

The victim was taken to St Peter’s Mission Hospital where penetration was confirmed.

The suspect was later arrested.

He has been charged with an offence of defilement which is contrary to section 138 of the penal code and will appear before court soon.

Banda comes from Chamba Vilage, Traditional Authority Malengachanzi in Nkhotakota.
